One of our highlights this year is the publication of our latest book, The Eye of !Gaunu, which we hope will have a significant impact as a tool to help share the wonderful |Xam mythology with children of Bushman descent in South Africa.
From stories related by || Kabbo, |Han#kass’o and Dia!kwain, this book sees indigenous Xam stories emerge not as quaint superstitions but as ancient truths about a universe that reflects, in its unfolding drama, our own interior life. This is a mythology where the feminine is the creative power, and all living beings are connected. Our first ancestors, the Bushmen of South Africa, had stories to tell that resonate with our contemporary world in profound ways. The stories are told by Jeni Couzyn with the insight of a poet and illustrated with inspiring lino prints made by contemporary Bushmen artists. Find it for sale at our Museum shop.
