The director of the Rock Art Research institute in Johannesburg visited the centre and, in his words, was “blown away” by our work. In collaboration with the Origins Centre, a museum that is part of Johannesburg’s Wits University, he commissioned us to make a lino print for a forthcoming exhibition at the Origins Centre. As well as our piece, which will be a permanent installation, the exhibition will feature the Linton panel, an ancient Bushman cave painting whose central image was incorporated into the South African coat of arms. The commission was to create an art piece that would be our response to the themes depicted in the coat of arms.
